Economics

The economics of installing electric heating for new buildings still provide an attractive proposition for developers, despite increased building fabric costs. It should be remembered:

  • Fabric improvements over 2002 levels to some degree will be required whatever the heating fuel type chosen
  • Fast, convenient installation means faster overall build speeds can be achieved compared with “plumbed” systems
  • Capital costs of bringing gas services to site are avoided

Dimplex, in liaison with the electric heating industry association TEHVA, have commissioned independent research into the costs of compliance methodologies for electric heating compared with other fuel types. The results of this research will be available in Autumn 2006.
