Building Regulations - Part L (England & Wales)

Integrated approach

The changes to Part L mean that building designers must now take a more holistic approach to the design of their buildings, considering the impacts of the constructional elements as well as those of the energy using services (heating, hot water, lighting and ventilation) and of course air tightness. For developers of apartments, there will also be the opportunity to trade off carbon emission ratings of various properties within the block to achieve overall compliance for the building as a whole.

It is therefore important to consider the heating at the early stages of the design process to allow developers to continue to take advantage of the many benefits electric heating has to offer while still satisfying the requirements of the building regulations.

To this end, Dimplex offer a completely free heating design service, supported by a national team of Specification Sales managers to offer advice to developers, consultants and architects at the early stages of a development project and ensure that they continue to benefit from the advantages of using electric heating.
